Upcoming Security Sessions at re:Invent 2014

AWS re:Invent is only one month away! Several members of the AWS Security and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) teams will be presenting on security topics and answering your questions in the AWS Security Booth. We have 21 sessions covering security this year. In this blog post, I want to highlight six essential sessions to attend.

  • Mastering Access Control Policies – This session provides an in-depth look at the AWS access control policy language. Principal Product Manager Jeff Wierer will show you how to scope down permissions in your account, how to use policy variables to simplify policy management, and how these practices apply to several common use cases.
  • Intrusion Detection in the Cloud – This session will show you how to monitor activity in your AWS account so you can detect anomalous behavior. AWS Principal Security Engineer Don Bailey and IAM Senior Development Engineer Graeme Baer will show you how the unique capabilities of AWS let you detect and respond to unexpected changes in your AWS environment.
  • Navigating PCI Compliance in the Cloud – Led by Jesse Angel from PaymentSpring, this session will show you how you can build a PCI level-1 certified payment gateway that runs entirely on AWS. Jesse will discuss how you can make PCI validation easier using open source tools and tools from AWS.
  • Incident Response in the Cloud – This session is the sequel to the intrusion detection session (see above) and answers the question “Now what?” IAM Senior Security Engineer Greg Roth and Don Bailey will walk you through a hypothetical incident and through the environment recovery steps that you can perform using AWS tools.
  • Enterprise Cloud Security via DevSecOps – Intuit and the AWS Professional Services team will cover the software-defined security practices of Developer Security Operations (a.k.a. DevSecOps). These presenters will give you the information necessary to create your own DevSecOps team.
  • Architecting for End-to-End Security in the Enterprise – In this technical walkthrough, AWS Principal Solutions Architect Bill Shinn and AWS Principal Consultant Hart Rossman will share the enterprise security architecture design decisions made for Fortune 500 organizations that deploy sensitive workloads to the AWS cloud.
