AWS Big Data Blog

Join us at the AWS Big Data Meetup on January 13th in San Francisco

The AWS Big Data Meetup brings Big Data developers and enthusiasts together to discuss Big Data solutions with each other and AWS team members. At the event you will hear speakers from AWS and the wider community who are pushing the boundaries of Big Data. We are committed to maintaining a technical focus, and invite you to participate as a guest or as a speaker. There will be food and plenty of time for one-on-one conversations.

When & Where

January 13th @ 6:00 at the  AWS Pop-up Loft in San Francisco: 925 Market Street, San Francisco, CA

AWS Speaker

Rahul Bhartia, Solutions Architect at AWS, will speak on “Hadoop Security: Finding the Right Model with EMR.”

As more organizations use Hadoop to collect and analyze massive amounts of data, Hadoop security has become critical. Effective Hadoop security requires a holistic approach, covering areas such as physical and network security, authentication and authorization, and access controls. This session examines these areas and shows you how to leverage them with Amazon EMR and AWS. You will also learn how to improve security on Amazon EMR clusters—from private subnets to secure clusters.

Guest Speaker: Netflix

Our guest speaker is Daniel Weeks, Engineering Manager at Netflix. Daniel will discuss how Netflix uses Spark & Presto to complement their big data platform stack that started with Hadoop. He will explain how Netflix uses Amazon S3 as their data warehouse and how they leverage EMR as a generic data processing cluster management framework.
